Acts of Kindness by Allie Veil

1 Thessalonians 5:11
Encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

This year I started doing a daily devotional called “Daily Acts of Kindness”. It has been encouraging, insightful and challenging. The one thing it has helped me remember is to be aware. Aware of my surroundings and the people in it. It’s easy to get distracted by the business of life, especially having an infant and toddler with me most of the time. My focus tends to be on my kids, which isn’t a bad thing, but this book has reminded me that Jesus cared for everyone and I need to take a step back and be aware of other people.

These simple acts of kindness, I thought, would be a nice way to encourage or help others. But what I’m starting to realize is how much it’s encouraging and helping me.

My challenge to you this week:

Everyday do an “Act of Kindness”. This could look like so many different things; send someone an encouraging text, use your gifts or serve in some way, listen to someone who is going through a hard time, show a stranger kindness, speak positively about someone, invite someone to church and the list can go on and on. It doesn’t have to be anything huge, it doesn’t have to take a ton of time and it doesn’t have to require money. Just love on people like Jesus did!

1 John 4:7-8
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

I would love to hear what “Acts of Kindness” you decided to do and how it made an impact! Comment below 🙂
