Spoke Folk by Kristin Suchoski

Hey everyone!

My name is Kristin, or some people know me as kwall.  My maiden name is Wallace, so that became my nickname and it stuck!  I wanted to share with you how I came to Jesus, which is through my spoke folk journey!
I grew up in a rough part of Detroit.  My mom didn’t want my brother and me going to school where we lived, so she gave my grandmother guardianship so we could use her address and go to a better school system.  Eventually, she worked her butt off and got us into private school.  This is when I was first introduced to Jesus.  I listened at school, and I went to church, but I wouldn’t say I truly understood or believed anything for myself.  My house was always tense with arguing, between my mom, me, my step dad, AND my brother.  None of us really got along and didnt know how to communicate with each other.  I would go to youth group simply to get away and hang out with my friends, not because I really wanted to hear about God.  But God had other plans for me one night.

For those that remember when Spoke Folk was a part of Youth Encounter, there was also a traveling band called Captive Free.  My church hosted them one night and my youth group went to their concert.  They had a slide show going of all the other ministries offered by Youth Encounter, including Spoke Folk.  My Youth Leader said “Hey, you should do that!”  I said, “Why? I hate biking.”  She said, “But you love to sing, and you’re outgoing, and its 2 weeks away from home!”  I was sold!  So just after I turned 15, I did my first tour in Michigan 2004, all by myself, really having no idea what I was getting into.  I have since done 11 other tours.  The first tour changed my life.  It taught me that I’m not alone, that God truly has a plan for my life.  Every tour I am renewed, and reminded of His love.  I have built lasting relationships because of this ministry, and cherish every memory I have made.  I am so thankful I have been given the gift to be a part of something so good.
I love you all.
